Casa Tankah is for the traveler who wants to get away from the crowds of people, away to a beautiful, peaceful Mexico. Where green parrots fly overhead early in the mornings & giant sea turtles come to nest.
THINGS TO DO WHILE AT CASA TANKAH

The snorkeling and diving are unsurpassed right out in front of the casa.. There is the "Maya Diving" Center located just a short stroll down the beach at the "Dreams" Resort. Tim Day has a highly qualified staff offering diving and snorkeling tours as well as cenote diving & snorkeling. He also offers all levels of scuba courses including: Discover Scuba, Scuba Diver course, Open Water Diver course, Advanced Open Water Diver course, Rescue Diver course, Dive Master course and Technical & Specialty courses. They also will pick up from our casa for free!! You can also dive or snorkel the many cenotes that are around Tankah. Please check out his web site at:

Exploring the Mayan Ruins are another great way to spend an afternoon or a whole day. The Tulum ruins are a short 5 minute drive from our casa, or you can even walk to them along the beach. This is a fun hike, make sure to wear good hiking shoes, (not sandels), and bring water, sunscreen and even a lunch if you want.

The Coba Ruins are about a 45 minute drive from Casa Tankah. You turn right at The San Francisco Market and follow the signs. Make sure and bring water and bug spray, these ruins are in the jungle but are well worth the trip because they are uncovering new ruins all the time!

A drive to Chichen Itza, (the most famous of the Mayan archeological sites in the Yucatan), is well worth the day spent getting there and back. It’s located 125 miles SW of Cancun.

Hidden Worlds offers snorkeling as well as scuba diving in the cenotes. There are located just 2 miles down the road from us. They also have a zip line now that the kids will get a kick out of.

Xel-Ha, a natural lagoon is just 5 minutes from Casa Tankah. It offers swimming with the dolphins as well as swimming with stingrays and many tropical fish. Although to be honest the snorkeling in front of our house can’t be beat, the kids enjoy it. There are many restaurants and outside bars there. The best deal is buying an all-inclusive pass for the day that covers your admission as well as all your food and drinks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic.

We always like to spend an afternoon walking along the beach in Tulum. Even though the beach in front of our place is white sand....in Tulum it’s white powder! You turn left at the light and head down to the road that takes you to Punta Allen, turn left at the T in the road, go down a ways, maybe 1 mile and turn right into El Pariso, you can park there for free. Then we just walk down to the beach and turn in either direction and start walking. It’s a great people watching spot, there are fishing boats that can take you out as well as kite boarders, (kids that use huge kites to get airlifted enough to skim across the waves on their boards!!) There are also many places you can stop for a cool drink or lunch or just appetizers.

As you can see Casa Tankah is located centrally to many, many things but it is also great for those people that don’t want to do anything but relax, enjoy the sun, read a good book they’ve been trying to get read, or just stare off into the water, it is mezmorizing.
